Two of the largest objections to online learning is students isolation and beliefs that students do not learn to communicate or work with others. iNACOL online learning standards highlight the need for this in their standards with: “ The course provides opportunities for appropriate instructor-student and student-student interaction to foster mastery and application of the material and a plan for monitoring that interaction.”
How can we provide opportunities to collaborate online AND involve students in deeper learning activities?

5. What twist could you add to a collaborative project to make it more effective?
6. If you could not use collaboration in your class at all, what other strategy would you choose to build understanding?

Review the answer to the 6 questions, how do they compare with your answers?
